I found this cute website. It is called Hillbillyhousewife.com . It is all about finding VERY cheap ways to grocery shop. They have a link to recipies. I made the Swedish Meatballs last night and they were YUM! Just thought I would share.

Chocolate Heath Bar Pudding Dessert

Hi there... I'm new to this community. I just wanted to share one of my favorite recipes. It's very simple to make. I put it up on youtube to share with my family and friends because they had been asking for the recipe. Anyhow, click on the picture if you're interested!

Freezing foods

I am preparing for my third baby and I know I am not going to want to cook alot. I am wanting to freeze some dinners just in case. I have never done this either! (I feel like such a cooking novice!)

Do y'all have any recipies that freeze great? Is there anything I should know about freezing meals?

I want to make spaghetti with big yummy meatballs. However I have never made meatballs before. Any recipies? Suggestions? I should warn you that I mentioned this to my hubby and his first responce was "Ew! Homemade meatballs and meatloaf for that matter always has that gross bread/cracker texture!"

What a pain!

Help me!

I am getting fed up with my picky-eater hubby. I want to get more veggies in our diet cause we need it. However my hubby is making this difficult. I am looking for dishes that I can "hide" veggies in.

Here is the deal with him.

He will eat some tomatoe dishes as long as they are not too tomato-y. No chunks.
No onion or peppers.
No peas
No veggie soups
The veggies cannot be crunchy

The main veggie I can get him to eat is corn. That is it. Spinach if I melt cheese on it. Yuck for me but I take mine out first.

ANy suggestions?

Beef with Mushrooms

I love a good slow cooker meal. This is my first posting here. I hope you like it. I am always looking for stuff that is really easy, fast and yummy. I love slow cookers.

Beef with Mushrooms

10 3/4 oz can cream of mushroom soup
4 oz can mushrooms
1 envelope dry onions soup mix
half a soup can of water
salt and pepper to taste.

Sprinkle bottom of greased slow cooker with 1/4 of dry soup mix. Layer in meat, mushroom soup, canned mushrooms and remaining dry onion soup mix. Pour water over. Cover and cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 4 hours. Serve over potatoes, rice or noodles.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

I tried this recipe for the first time yesterday and I will be adding it to my collection. Let me know what you think of it!

3 pounds chicken wings
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 cup honey
1 clove garlic, minced
salt and pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Place chicken in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Mix together the oil, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over the chicken.
Bake in preheated oven for one hour, or until sauce is caramelized.

In reading the reviews, my sauce didn't thicken like it was supposed to, so I used a reviewer's suggestion and used cornstarch to thicken it up. My husband loved it, he took the remaining chicken for lunch!

Here's a link to the recipe:

I just came across a cupcake recipe in this filipino community I frequent - when it calls for sour milk - what the heck is that? Sour cream?

Thanks for anybody's help!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

I was looking for a recipe for stuffed cabbage rolls on allrecipes.com when I found this one. It was so easy to make. I put a little more tomato sauce into mine, only because my husband loves tomatoes, but I thought the recipe was good enough to share with the other cooking divas out there!

Cabbage Roll Casserole

2 pounds ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
3 1/2 pounds chopped cabbage
1 cup uncooked white rice
1 teaspoon salt
2 (14 ounce) cans beef broth
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large skillet, brown beef in oil over medium high heat until redness is gone. Drain off fat.
In a large mixing bowl combine the onion, tomato sauce, cabbage, rice and salt. Add meat and mix all together. Pour mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Pour broth over meat mixture and bake in the preheated oven, covered, for 1 hour. Stir, replace cover and bake for another 30 minutes.

If you try this, I'd like to know how you liked it! Enjoy!
